It's been a bit since my last video on the Hilux. But I'm back with an update! In this video, I go over the progress made on the truck. This is also the first time that it has run! Also. The charger is a Gen 2. ( I said Gen 1 in the video but its actually a Gen 2) Thanks for tuning in!
In this video, I go over what exact Tesla motor I used and what I used to make the motor run. I mention that I also work at EV West in San Marcos California as an Electric car builder and EV Vehicle engineer. I go over the different ways to run the motor so that the Hilux will get down the road. Below are some links to what I used as well as my suggested method for running a Tesla motor. Enjoy! and Thanks for watching!
In this video, I give a fairly detailed description of how to wire up the Dilithium BMS on the BMW i3 96S 400 volt battery pack. I went this route instead of the simpbms route mainly because of availability, as well as I'm very familiar with the Dilithium system.
In this video, I explain in great detail all the components of the build. Im talking a bit slow in this mainly to cover every single thing I can. Hopefully, there are useful things for everyone to learn from. Thanks!
So it's been 1 year since I first started driving my converted Hilux as a daily. It's been a fun year! I give a brief update on the truck and a breakdown of how I drive it and pay attention to its drive train as I climb a steep mountain grade.
Hey Everyone! This is the first of a new series of videos on the basics of electric vehicles. What components go into an electric vehicle and what it takes to make them run. In this video, I explain what a contactor is. And what it does. Also what types of contactors there are. Check out my other videos here on my 1972 Toyota Hilux build. Thanks! Wiring up a Dilithium BMS System on a 400 Volt Battery Pack! Tesla Powered Toyota Hilux Build Video 3
In this video I go over some of the reasons why I chose the components I installed in my Hilux electric conversion as well as the reasoning for their position within the truck. Simplicity and serviceability were prime factors throughout the project. Between using the Tesla Model S Gen 2 on board level 2 charger as well as the DC to DC converter (DCDC). I also discuss why I chose the Tesla Model S small drive unit versus other common electric motor options. Thanks for watching and enjoy!
