James Jaramillo's Hand controlled race SxS

In 2016, J5 built a custom race car for James Jaramillo using a Polaris SxS in the Lucas Oil Short Course Racing Series. He was involved in a motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed as a quadriplegic. That did not stop his determination to be a competitive racer in the off-road world. The hand control system was developed in-house and built utilizing the strengths he had built up over the years. A push/pull throttle brake system and a drive-by-wire system made it possible for him to race. The drive-by-wire system was ahead of its time, with a fully custom-designed and built gearbox, steering sensor system, and custom programming on a robotics single-board computer to make it work. The fact that it was involved with racing made it 10 times harder, considering the insanely harsh conditions.
